Hi, I’m Mariko

I am so grateful to be a therapist and meet people in their inner worlds. I recognize the strength it takes to emotionally explore and self-reflect, and the vulnerability in doing this, so it is my honor to support clients on their journeys. I work with clients on both a short and long-term basis, depending on their needs. I am described as a good listener, curious, insightful, direct and humorous. I utilize my experience, training and outside perspective to partner with clients.

I have two teenage kids and a Cairn Terrier named Rey at home. I love to cook, go to new restaurants, play tennis and travel to Japan. I grew up in Portland, in a multi-cultural home, and studied Japanese through college. I graduated from Wells High School (formerly Wilson), University of Oregon and Lewis & Clark College.

Fees & Insurance

  • Currently, I am awaiting approval for the following networks: Optum, Providence and Regence Blue Cross. Once I am an in-network provider and one of these is your insurance plan, I will submit the claim after our session. All other fees, such as co-pays, co-insurance, or private pay out-of-pocket, will be charged through the credit card I keep on file after the session with your permission.

If your insurance plan includes benefits for out-of-network providers, I am happy to work with you to access those benefits by providing documentation of services and payment. Not all insurance plans offer this benefit, and insurance plans can be difficult to navigate, so please contact your insurance directly to learn about your options, deductible and required authorizations.

  • 50-minute individual therapy session $180

Longer sessions are available, but will need to be discussed ahead of time and may not be covered by your insurance.

Same for in-person, virtual or phone. You must be physically located in Oregon to participate by video/tele-health, as I’m licensed in this state.

  • Within 48 business hours - $100 fee
No show - full cost of appointment

Services

Individual therapy. My practice focuses on individual therapy for those 18-years and older, where I draw from a variety of evidence-based psychological approaches to support each client’s unique needs. I aim to integrate these modalities in a way that feels natural and responsive - from traditional talk therapy to somatic and spiritually grounded practices - all rooted in the belief that healing is both possible and deeply human.

Couples therapy. I’m skilled at helping couples navigate communication, disconnection, high conflict and parenting discord. I understand that these patterns can seem entrenched and difficult to change, so I’m committed to non-judgment, support, coaching new skills and challenging old patterns. My couples work values a variety of structures and backgrounds, including same-sex, multi-racial and cultural differences.

Family therapy. This brings two, or more, family members together to work collaboratively with me to explore the family system and help engender stability and strength in these relationships. This approach invites everyone into the process, creating space for open conversations around emotions, boundaries and shared experiences. It often involves addressing both current challenges and deeper patterns related to grief, trauma, abuse and/or addiction.

Trauma-informed care and treatment. In addition to completing my Masters program in Counseling Psychology at Lewis & Clark College, I am trained in EMDR, Emotion-Focused Family Therapy and Collaborative-Problem Solving.

Social Justice. Both personally and professionally, I value diverse perspectives and believe in equity. I strive to create a space where people of all identities and backgrounds feel seen, respected and valued. Honoring cultural differences and lived experiences is central to my work.

Parenting. I offer parenting support and skills based in positive, attachment based treatment programs, including The Incredible Years and SPACE (Supportive Parenting for Anxious Childhood Emotions).

Psychedellic integration. I am certified to provide psilocybin education through Weaving Bridges Natural Fellowship and Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy through the Psychedelic Research and Training Institute (PRATI). I can assist clients in therapeutic integration post-journey, regardless of when and where it took place.

Spiritual support. I help clients explore existential questions, human stories, archetypes, dreams and metaphors through the lens of astrology, numerology and tarot as a way to inform self-discovery, drive insight and increase a sense of awe in the human experience.
